BUILDING A NEW HOME

This is a detailed account of our experience building a dream house. Hopefully, it will chronicle our daily or at least weekly experiences with the project. We are not building it ourselves, but instead hired a builder to handle that part of the stress. This is our labor of love and we give thanks to God for blessing us with the opportunity to do it.

My Photo
Name:
Location: United States

I absolutely love and adore God as my first mission in life. My second greatest loves are my children and husband. I also have a very deep and sincere commitment to the aid, love and support of hurting, impoverised, and/or underprivelaged children here and abroad. I spend much of my resources trying to be a blessing to many of those children in the world. If you are interested in helping please let me know. I am very interested in business issues as I own 2 companies. I am highly ambitious and driven. I love new homes, and interior design. I'm an admitted shopaholic. I've been singing since I was a small child and have an infinite love for music.

IT IS FINALLY FINISHED!

Our house was finally completed and we closed and moved in on July 5, 2005. All praises go up to our oh so magnificent Lord and Saviour for this amongst many other things! We closed, moved out of the old house, and moved into the new house all on one day. My craziness. Just wanted to get it done. The house is really beautiful. They did a fabulous job. Now on to the next phase - decorating. We bought almost all of the major furniture pieces before moving in - as I really wanted everything here when we got here. After all the work we are trying to relax a bit. I nearly shopped till I passed out one of the days right before the move. But we love it!

Landscaping - Really Tired

I'm just about at shear exhaustion literally. We have a week and a day to go, and trying to get everything done (New furniture in time for move - old house cleaned out/packed, etc., etc.) has absolutely sucked out my energy.

Good News - Landscaping is almost done. However, we have 1 real issue and that is that because of the side load garage the concrete was laid on a curve from the driveway around to the front door. Not what I want. I would like a nice long walk way straight from the door to the street. We will correct that shortly and the landscaping will really come to life I think. I will take better landscaping pictures next time up close. Meanwhile, everything is new and small - landscaping has to grow I suppose.

Columns - Finally arrived for the family room. Even unpainted - they look so much better than what was there before. Happy with those.

Less Than 2 Weeks To Move In

Well, we are coming very close to a finish. THE KITCHEN IS DONE!! Well except for the refrigerator will be delivered a day after moving in and the whine cooler for the butlers pantry seems to have disappeared. Company says it was delivered, but it's not there. Our builder says he doesn't care if they delivered it 10 times it will be there on closing day. Meanwhile, the painters have finished their paint touch ups and painting is done. I even got them to paint the columns in the bath white for contrast. Check.done. Now we just need a shower door in there and we are set. Beyond that we finished our punch list walk through - very few minor items and are very much looking forward to the closing. Oh - I must not forget - columns for the family room - still waiting for delivery - we had them changed after seeing the scrony little things they originally put in. Landscaping next week hopefully, and we are having the name of the house engraved on it in a piece of limestone, "BLESSED HAVEN". I wanted to make sure that we came up with some sort of name that would give honor to God, as it is his blessing that has allowed us this blessing and we know it.
